TUTORIAL: Folklorico Turns
If you are need of a step-by-step Folklorico Turn Tutorial, then today is must be your lucky day!
I have created the following tutorial in the hope that you can master the turns that are generally used for several regions including, Jalisco, Colima, and Nayarit.
In the tutorial video below I will teach you how to turn in the exact way that I teach my students how to turn. Before you attempt to turn you must remember that learning how to turn properly is a process and that it might take you some time to master these turns, especially if you have never attempted to turn, or were taught in a different way.
-Make sure that your footwork does not become sloppy and/or the sound muffled when you turn.
- Spot your turns! If you need help spotting your turns you can visit my previous blog post, How to Spot Your Folklorico Dance Turns.
- When you turn, make sure you turn away from your dance partner. You don't want to bump into him or her with your hat or skirt.
-Ladies, make sure that you practice turning with your skirts on in front of a mirror as much as possible, but before your do so, get the footwork down.
